The History

The company was originally formed on January 3rd, 2001 and is owned 50% by the Goldring Family through a company named Crown Beverage Company, LLC (Crown) and 50% by the Moffett Family through a company named Poydras Street Investors, LLC (Poydras).

Crown started in 1982 with five trucks.  Crown distributed the brands of Coors Brewing Company in New Orleans, Louisiana and in April of 1983 added the Stroh and Schaefer brands.  Crown continued to grow as the Schlitz brand was acquired and through the years Guinness, Corona, Samuel Adams, and Abita were added.  In 1993, Crown entered into the new age beverage market with the addition of various waters, teas, juices and other non-alcoholic beverages.  In April 2001, Crown continued growing with the acquisition of National Beverage in Thibodaux, Louisiana, which distributed the brands of Coors Brewing Company.

Poydras started in 1990 with the purchase of the Seven-Up/ Royal Crown Bottling Company of Louisiana, Inc.  This business distributed various non-alcoholic beverages covering 23 parishes (or counties) in southeast Louisiana.  In September 1992, a Joint Venture was formed and this business was merged with the Pepsi-Cola Bottling operations doing business in the same geographic territory. In April 1995, Miller Brands of Greater New Orleans was purchased from the Miller Brewing Company by the Joint venture which later expanded its distribution of malt beverages with the acquisition of two other Miller distributorships in Southeast Louisiana.  The brands of Heineken USA were added in February 1996 when Heineken USA aligned its Louisiana distribution network with the Miller beer wholesalers throughout the state.  In January 2001, the Joint Venture was dissolved and Poydras received 100% of the beer business.  Poydras operated the beer business as a fully owned subsidiary named Crescent Distributing, LLC. (Crescent) until October 2001.

On October 1st, 2001, Crown merged into Crescent in exchange for a 50% ownership interest.  The company’s name was immediately changed to Crescent Crown Distributing, LLC. (Crescent Crown).  In February 2004, Crescent Crown tripled its size with the purchase of certain assets of Pearce Beverage, LLC, a beer distributorship located in Phoenix, Arizona; distributing brands supplied by Miller Brewing Company, Coors Brewing Company, Crown Imports LLC, Heineken USA Inc. and others.  In February 2005, Louisiana Beer Company, Inc. the Miller Brewing Company and Heineken USA beer distributorship serving Napoleonville and Thibodaux Louisiana was acquired.  In April 2005, Clark Distributing Company of Louisiana, Inc. serving the Lafayette and Baton Rouge/North Shore markets was also acquired pushing annual case volumes to over 10 million cases covering 30 parishes throughout southern Louisiana.  Crescent Crown now sells and delivers over twenty six million cases annually throughout it’s distribution territories in Arizona and Louisiana making Crescent Crown one of the top five largest beer distributors in the country.

Crescent Crown Distributing is dedicated to providing quality service and products.  We make sure that our products are handled with care and to the strictest quality standards.

Most beers, unlike wine, are better consumed when freshly brewed.  Freshness is a key element in the sale of all of our products.  Every case of beer we sell has a peak freshness date printed on every bottle and case.  We are constantly checking these dates and rotating our inventory to make sure the customer receives the best tasting and freshest products available.  These measures keep our products at their peak of freshness from the day they reach us until they are delivered to our customers.

In addition to freshness, we make sure the beer is maintained at appropriate temperatures to beat the desert heat.  Our warehouses are temperature-controlled to ensure zero heat-related damage to our packaged beer.  For all of our draught products and some of our packaged beer, we have large refrigerated coolers which are kept at a frigid 40 degrees.  Keeping our beer at the correct temperature is expensive in the heat of the desert, yet it is critical in our commitment to fresh products.

Finally, care is taken to handle products carefully and provide retailers with undamaged cases and kegs.  No one wants cans that are dented, packages that are torn, or bottles that are broken inside their 12 packs.  When enjoying our great beers, we hope you can appreciate the care and effort we take to keep it tasting great.

Crescent Crown also maintains a state of the art graphics department which allows us to produce over 8,000 custom signs and banners each month.  We take pride in providing retailers the necessary tools to enhance the sale of products in their stores and restaurants.

Community of Crescent Crown

Crescent Crown Distributing is proud to part of the Greater Phoenix area and holds as a core value the importance of supporting the local communities. 

The employees of CCD are a very kind and compassionate group.  They give back to the community as individuals as well as participating in Company Sponsored events. They are very generous with their time and money.  The employees volunteer by leading Girl Scouts, coaching Little League or Pop Warner Football.  They are also involved in churches across the Valley and set up donation areas at work.

Crescent Crown Distributing sponsors several annual events for the benefit of local charities.  CCD is very proud to support the City of Hope by participating in an annual walk for breast cancer research and through a work place giving program.  CCD and Coors Brewing Co help paint homes during The Rock and Roll Paint-a-Thon.  In 2005 CCD employees donated over $25,000 to the employees of Crescent Crown Distributing in New Orleans who lost everything due to Hurricane Katrina.  CCD and Coors Brewing Co partner with local retailers to raise money for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. 

CCD will continue to support the local charities of the Greater Phoenix Area and looks forward to having an even greater impact in the years to come
